A blog about my adventures, love, art, desserts, fashion and other stuff that I like.. In short, a blog about my life =) |
This was the gift that I made for my boyfriend on our 1st year anniversary. It was fun to make it and I thought it was a great gift that reflects us :) Besides, it is incredibly cheap and the application is easy. My boyfriend loved it so much - he says it is the most stylish and precious thing in his room! You can make it either like the first photo without hanging the photos or you can make it by hanging the photos which I think makes it more special. So if anybody is interested here is how you can do it:

Materials:
-Newspaper
-Seccotine glue
-Brush
-A random vase
-Colorful stones
-Christmas Lights
-Little latches (optional)
-Photos of you and the gift owner :) (optional)

How to do it:
-First buy a random vase with simple shapes. It won’t matter much because you’ll cover it with newspapers.(If you want you can use other materials such as papers full of hearts?)
-To cover the vase you’ll need a seccotine glue and a any size brush. Cut the newspapers in linear shapes and stick them vertical, horizontal or cross. They won’t stick well first, so after appying all of them you should cover the newspapers with seccotine a few times. When it will dry, they will be pretty stable.
-The hardest part is to find the plant. I found it at a flower shop and I get it free because they were using them as to decorate flowers and they were cheap. It was very tall though, they had to cut it. (I didn’t paint it, it was white -my luck, sorry:] But you can always paint it maybe by spray paintings i don’t know.)
-Now you should find any hard material that you can stick the plant in it. It is necessary to keep the plant stable.
-As for the little rocks, you don’t have to find dozens of them. You may fill the bottom with any regular materials, then just use the rocks at the top.
-Now that everything’s ready, all that’s left is to wind the christmas lights over the plant and hang the pictures with little latches. And you’re done :)

Oh there he is, right on my nail!
